Food Porn in SYDNEY – mostly VEGAN Food Guide

Sydney is the best place to eat vegan that I have ever been to. So many health food cafés, restaurants and so many completely vegan places.

I already wrote a general Travel Guide for Sydney with all my tips on where to go, what to do and also some important things to know. So this post is supposed to be the addition to that, talking about all the food hotspots, cafés and restaurants that I tested and loved and recommend to you!

I hope you are ready for some serious mostly vegan + mostly healthy food porn!

But before I start with the restaurants & cafés, you definitely need to check if the SYDNEY VEGAN MARKET is on! They host it once a month and it’s a paradise for vegans and foodies (and vegan foodies obviously). Unfortunately, I never made it there, but I would do everything to go there next time.

Speedos Café, Bondi Beach

Goals for every food blogger and photographer. This place is not just heaven for the mouth but also for the eyes. Vegan banana pancake stack, different avocado toast options, amazing juices & smoothies, and a berry-licious breakfast pannacotta. Sounds like a dream? It is. I’ve been there twice and even though it’s pretty loud and squishy, the food is just 100% worth it.

Bodhi, Asian Vegan Restaurant

Located near Hyde Park and St. Mary’s Cathedral this restaurant overlooks into Cook + Phillip Park and has a wonderfully quiet location. The menu is completely vegan and offers so many different meals and little dishes that it is hard to choose. It is a bit more pricy but soo delicious and great to order different things and share with friends and family.

I remember the Japanese taco, cauliflower chicken, spring rolls, mushroom dumplings and „nachos“ as super delicious.

Café in Westfield Shopping Centre Burwood

For my last breakfast with my parents, we found this little surprise in the Westfield Shopping Centre in Burwood. We didn’t expect to find something that delicious and pretty in a shopping centre, but we got surprised.

Avocado and poached egg on black sourdough with beet hummus, fruity honey crunchy muesli on yogurt and I also had a great Acai bowl. Super photogenic and great taste – we did not expect that at all! Only the juices where disappointing because they weren’t fresh pressed and super watery…

Shift Eatery, Surry Hills

I saw them on Instagram and immediately knew that I had to try one of their toasties. 100% vegan, fresh sourdough, tofu ham, creamy „cheese“, garlic aioli and tomato – so freaking delicious and they had so many more options. Vegan bacon, sauerkraut on toast, breakfast toasties and other deliciousnesses. Perfect snack or lunch when walking around in the city all day.

Preach Café, Bondi Beach

At daytime an epic breakfast and lunch spot. In the evening an 100% vegan restaurant. Unfortunately, I only tried their dinner and not one of their healthy buddha bowls, vegan pancakes or acai bowls, but I can really recommend their vegan mac’n cheese, burger and nacho bowl.

Cali Press, Bondi Beach

Famous for acai bowls, sandwiches and toasts, juices and smoothies. They offer many different options and everything I had was really good. They also make all their juices themselves and you can order juice cleanses with them.

IMG_8076

Lentils as Anything, Newtown

I discovered this amazing chain in Melbourne. They have a daily changing menu with three different all vegan meals and you pay as much as you want/can in the end. I like the vibe & food in Melbourne better, but it was still a super delicious vegan health lunch.

Toast Café, Surry Hills

Australians just love their breakfast. That’s why they have so many cafés that do amazing all day breakfast and so we had no struggles finding a new place to eat every day (and for ever meal).

And even if their Avo toast contains fetta or poached egg, it’s never a problem to ask for vegan options!

Max and Co, Manly

I love good Mexican food, but I think it can be boring and similar everywhere you go. It’s always Burrito, Nachos, Tacos, Enchiladas and Quesadillas. But if a restaurant really knows how to do it nicely, it’s so delicious. And this place in Manly really did it great! But still not as good as the Mexican restaurant I went to in Byron Bay.

IMG_8104

The Sandwich Shop, Haymarket

Between all the big skyscrapers and offices you find amazing bistros to eat lunch or have a snack. Because that’s what the Sydneyaner and business people do in their break as well. At lunchtime, you see so many of them meeting for a quick lunch or coffee with friends, business partners or just to eat and be outside.

At The Sandwich Shop, you get super healthy sandwichs, wraps or salads and mine, with avocado and hummus was really good!

Umu Vegetarian, Bondi Beach

Breakfast heaven, snack bar, lunch spot and daily dinner menu – all vegetarian. Me and my friend shared a dream of a breakfast. Vegan avocado toast, sweet potato zucchini breakfast stack with beetroot hummus and vegan cheese and a berry ricotta pancake. Everything was so so good!

Jet Café & Restaurant, Townhall

I’ve been there 4 times, I know, crazy. Never to eat lunch because it’s pretty expensive, but to have cake. Because their carrot cake is heavenly, so moist, creamy and with pecans on top and it’s only 5$ (3€).

Lord of the Fries

Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Surfers Paradise. This chain is slowly taking over Australia (and hopefully the world soon) with their completely vegan menu of burgers, hot dogs, nuggets and fries. Not healthy and definitely fast food, but you can find all those „cheese burger“, „bacon and egg breakfast burger“, „fish burger“ and more made vegan – how amazing is that! No need to mention that it tastes amazing.

IMG_1641

Two Daughters, Surry Hills

Super cute hippie café that offers amazing vegan options. I had a tofu scramble avocado toast and their juices were really good too.

Oh and by the way… it’s not just Sydney that is amazing when it comes to healthy food places, vegan meals and beautiful cafés and restaurants. Australia in general is so so good when it comes to amazing food!

Melbourne is probably Nr. 2 on the vegan heaven! Here are my tips. And I also made a ‚Eating out vegan – What I Eat‚ blog post.

Byron Bay – Acai bowls, fresh coconuts and raw vegan treats everywhere you look around. I tested many places and still haven’t tried them all, but here you find my top tips for you.

Perth also has many great places and I love seeing vegan options everywhere. Here are my tested places.

And there are more blog posts and food guides in planning. One for the whole East Coast and general (vegan) food tips for Australia. A Sunshine Coast food guide because they just know how to make the best breakfast. And I am also freaking excited to eat out in Bali soon!

Which Cities can you recommend for great (healthy & vegan) food? Have you tried a few of these places in Sydney? What are your favourite meals when eating out?

New Motivation & Inspiration | Favourites

This month I fell in love with a few new things: people (or their Instagram accounts), food (as per usual) and products that I want to share with you today.

I guess this will be the last Favourites blog post for now because I’ll be travelling with a backpack soon so I won’t have a lot of new things to share with you. Probably there will be a section in my monthly review with my loved ones I discover in Australia so I can tell you about them.

IMG_4912

Do you already have any blog post / video suggestions that you want me to make in Australia?

I want to start doing videos and obviously still write articles on here so tell me what you are interested in down below in the comments!

I am thankful for relaxed evenings with good conversations, to spend time with people whom company I enjoy and for sure will miss when I’m Down Under.

Food

I got a few new and old favourites that I want to show you, cause there is nothing better than food – am I right? Also, I am going to share the recipe for my green-protein-smoothie I made a lot in the last weeks and you’ve probably seen it in my Instagram Stories & for my favourite salad dressing that makes all the greens taste great!

IMG_5324.JPG

I really like eating salad for lunch because I usually have a huge breakfast (like you see above) pretty late in the day cause I work out in the morning. Also, it is a great way to get all raw greens in. Sometimes I have baked sweet potato and steamed broccoli on the side or more raw veggies like tomatoes, cucumber and bell pepper. But my dressing is always the same because I love this combination so much!

Fresh Sweet & Sour Salad Dressing

All measurements are just roughly measured and it depends on how you like it to taste and how much salad you have.

  • 1 tsp olive or flaxseed oil
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 1,5 tbsp raspberry vinegar (I use a homemade one) or other fruity vinegar
  • 1,5 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp tahini
  • pepper

I really love the sour but fruity & sweet taste of this dressing and it fits perfectly to any kind of veggies & greens.

Black Smoothie

We have a lot of Kale in our Garden and because Kale is super healthy and has so many vitamins I try to have a green / almost black smoothie about 3 times a week and get all those greens in. Especially when I don’t have a salad for lunch.

  • 3 handful of fresh kale
  • 1 frozen banana
  • some frozen blueberries
  • sweet fruit like watermelon, pineapple or apple
  • half a jar of coconut water
  • half a tsp of each greens powder (I use Moringa, Barley Grass & Camu Camu)

I really like this combination cause it is cold and refreshing, nourishing but doesn’t taste too green/healthy. Do you like drinking green smoothies as well?

IMG_4955.JPG

In Berlin I ate a super yummy wrap with black rice, tofu and a tahini sauce. I never ate round black rice before (not the hard, thin one you mix with basmati rice) and it tasted so good, very flavourful and now I want to cook with it at home. I could imagine it in a salad with greens, cucumber, pepper, smoked tofu and a tahini sauce…

IMG_5205

I also discovered a vegan „Mortadella“ and I really love it. It almost tastes like the real one (even my dad & brother like it!) and it’s perfect if you crave something savoury but not veggie-tasting on your bread. I eat it with a bit avocado as a butter substitute and I can highly recommend you to try it if you like substitutes.

Inspiration

I just recently discovered @maddielymburner on YouTube and now she is my number 1 inspiration when it comes to health, veganism, food and fitness. She is so lovely, healthy and fit and her videos really motivate me a lot and give great inspiration for meals. She also has a second Instagram account that is more fitness related @madfit.ig as well as a second YouTube Channel where she posts at home workouts that I’ve been doing since two weeks now and I really love them!

I am totally inspired by the idea of minimalism and don’t owning a lot – just what you really need. Something that I want to work on more when I’ll be back from Australia. I am sure it will be a great start to only travel with a backpack for a year and hopefully, it won’t be hard to declutter because I know that I can live a wonderful life without many things I own.

Raw Alignment and her minimalism series on YouTube really inspire me, as well as Pick up Limes, who is another great inspiration!

IMG_4884.JPG

I found this picture on Pinterest and that’s truely how I want all my relationships to be… This picture really speaks to my heart and soul.

Last but not least I completely fell in love with @annietarasova she is such an inspiring soul and her travel photography and also videography is just beautiful. She also creates amazing art and inspires in mindfulness, self-love and more!

What are your favourites this month? Who inspires you to work towards your goals, learn & grow?

Doing Me | July Favorites 2018

Since there was no Favorites Post for June, this blog post is going to be full of all my beloved ones from the last two month covering many different topics.

I completely fell in love with this caricature when I saw it on Pinterest. This is how I want my relationships to be. With my boyfriend/husband, my friends and my family. This is how every good relationship should be like in my opinion.

IMG_4080

I really am, and I love it! So many opportunities, chances, new beginnings, a lot of time and even more things to do. But everything is my choice!

Shopping

I want to start with something that is very close to my heart and that I want to get into even more myself which is sustainability. I have always been very nature-friendly and the health of our earth was always important to me but just for the last year, I started getting into it more, learning, trying, failing and giving my best.

I would never ever say that I am suuper eco-friendly and sustainable because I still do so much that could be improved and I know that, but not everything is possible when you live at home with your family and don’t have a lot of money. But I don’t want to procrastinate at all – I try my best and I will slowly but surely get better and better.

You can buy these products at Rossmann and they are much more eco-friendly!

I have already shared some things that I swapped in our household to make it more eco-friendly in this post and last month I have been to a Zero Waste Shop that sell plastic free products and food that you can fill up in your own container. It was so much fun and I was super impressed by how many things they have, that you could easily buy instead of the regular, in plastic covered stuff.

IMG_3405

I can highly recommend to everybody to go into a Zero Waste store and bring your own container or mason jars to fill up all kinds of grains, oats, muesli or flour. They also had washing powder, vegan spread, milk products and syrups or oils in large containers.

You can also buy soap bars, deodorant, body butter and other sustainable beauty products without plastic and most of their stuff is organic too.

Photography

I have been very inspired by @theocarow and @vivi_koenig because I really like their photography style and how authentic and real their pictures look like.

Books

I have already talked about my favorite books from the last few months but I still wanted to mention two of them – my absolute favorites – in this post which are „Die Bücherdiebin“ and „Die Welt wie wir sie kannten“

Lightroom

For your vacation in Portugal, I downloaded the 30-day free trial of Lightroom to edit my pictures more professional and I completely fell in love with this program. I know that it’s nothing new or special and everyone is already using it, but I just discovered how amazing it is and now I need to pay for it every month… but it’s so worth it!

IMG_4161
I already told you about the amazing food I ate the last weeks in my review for July
Food

I didn’t eat very good at the beginning of July because we were on vacation and white bread and cheese couldn’t be avoided completely. Back home I tried to eat completely vegan and very healthy which was pretty successful besides the fact that I ate out a lot (but still mostly healthy and vegan).

And I have been eating my beloved blackberries in huge amounts cause I found many blackberry bushes near my home and picked them every day.

IMG_4113.JPG

Also, I made my favorite Banana Bread again. Usually, the recipe is made with raspberries but this time I tried it with frozen blueberries and it was super delicious. Very soft and mushy at the same time – just how I love my Banana Bread!

Phone case

Werbung / Ad //  After my last phone case broke I needed a new one, that protects my phone better, especially for my adventures in Australia. That’s why I was super happy to be able to cooperate with handyhuellen.de and got a new case for my iphone 6 that covers the glass sides and still isn’t too think. I decided to go for a basic grey one with a sea through back so I could but my own pictures in there and change it when I feel like it, but there are so many different phone cases available on their side. Thank you Handyhüllen!

What are your favorites this month? Do you like blueberries as well? How do you feel about the relationship caricature?
