My life back home in Germany already feels so far away. But I still wanted to write this September Review to remember my last days with my friends and not miss out on this time when I’ll be going through my monthly reviews in the future.
For my time in Australia, I plan to write diary style blog posts every few days or every week to update you and have a diary for myself about my journey.
So this September Review will only be about the time in Germany until the 19th and afterwards, posts of my first days in Melbourne will follow!
I’ll also include some favourites of the month because I won’t make extra favourite posts anymore.
My September hasn’t been that exciting as I was just preparing a lot as well as spending quality time with my family and friends.
I enjoyed the last bits of summer at the pool, went to the lake, scrolled through my hometown and did all the usual stuff.
I tried to eat as healthy as possible because I wasn’t sure if I could always afford all the good veggies and fruits so I wanted to really enjoy it in my last days. As well as doing sport because the first days somewhere new I usually don’t feel like going for a run or working out. Especially now that I have to stay in hostels without a private room to do a home workout and a big city like Melbourne, where it isn’t really nice to go for a run…
On Sunday I went to Wernigerode with my best friend because I’ll maybe start studying there next year so I wanted to have a look at the town. It is very cute and lovely, but not much going on… the problem is, that I can’t study the subject of International Tourism Management anywhere else that is not super far from my home, so I’ll have to get along with it.
In Wernigerode, they had these “snowball” called cookies, so we had to try them but got disappointed. It’s just boring dough with lots of sugar and cinnamon (or whatever flavour you take).
Luckily, I got the chance to still go to a new completely vegan restaurant that just opened up in Magdeburg, called Botanica and ate dinner there with my friends. Not just their interior is super cute, green, cozy and just lovely but also their food was amazing. I had a smoked tofu wrap with a very dense “meat-y” sauce which was amazing and a chocolate-pear cake for dessert. I’ll for sure go back right away when I’m home to try all the other meals on their menu!
I also finally got these reusable cotton shopping bags that my mom is now taking to the supermarket. I really hope that it will be common soon to use these instead of plastic bags and until then my mom will be a good example for everyone!
One Saturday me and my parents went to my family’s farm and I was so happy to be able to go there again before leaving for Australia. They have some animals as well as the best grapes ever and we were lucky to get there at the perfect time to take some home.
And then it was time to say goodbye to all my friends. But before we had a wonderful weekend and got to spend a lot of time together before everyone is going to different directions now.
First, we went to the vacation home of my best friend (where we also stayed at after finishing exams in May) to celebrate her and her boyfriend’s birthday. We had a lovely evening, night and morning with good conversations, amazing food, a campfire and fun board games.
For the party, I baked this vegan poppyseed-cheesecake which was super yummy! I love poppyseeds but I haven’t baked with them myself before. When I, now that I am writing this, think about cooking, baking and my kitchen at home, I really wish to be at home and be able to try out recipes… I already miss that!
You can find the recipe here!
The next day we drove straight to Leipzig where another friend is at dance school now. We met her in her new apartment, talked a lot because we haven’t seen each other in ages and made food (as per usual haha). I really fell in love with her apartment interior and I would love to have one myself one day and make it look beautiful just as she did.
Here you can see some interior inspiration by @jule.popule as I really love her interior style!
And then on my last Sunday, it was the day of saying goodbye to all my friends. I invited them for brunch and we had a wonderful day with good food (again! Haha) and more conversations. I’m really going to miss these casual days/ evenings/night with my friends where we just cook, eat and talk…
For my brunch, I baked some amazing vegan brownies with cherries that were so unbelievable yummy, chocolately, creamy, moist, fruity and fresh (because they are made with vegan yogurt), so I highly recommend you to try this recipe by elefantasticvegan!
I also finally made time to go horseback riding again after ages and it was so much fun! I really hope that I’ll be able to find a job on a horse ranch here in Australia so that I can be around horses again.
So this September Review ends with the 18th as I left to Australia and I’m going to write extra diary blog posts about that – so stay tuned for my first posts from Melbourne in the next days!
